Description – New addition and interior upgrade of SFO Terminal 3 West. Design intent to make proper continuity from the East side of the terminal while providing upgraded ambient for passenger. Passenger experience and client relationship is key driver of the project. SFO T3W project is targeting to achieve LEED Gold.

Project Area - Total 67,000 sqf of new construction - (1) administration building, (4) house buildings.

Description – New construction of child care center for confidential client. Design intent to bring warmth from structural timber and natural light by exposed structure and skylight. Each house has distinctive colors and ocean animals assigned, interior design focused on bring a comfortable and playful experiences both for child and parents.

Project Area - Total 352,000 sqf of new construction – (2) buildings each has 4 floors with 156,000 sqf, and (1) building has 2 floors with 40,000 sqf.

Description – Office and Lab buildings for Illumina facility located in Foster City. Following unique building shape, conference rooms and main public spaces designed with curve, defined by wood slat ceilings and moss wall materials. Depends where the building facing at, the space design sends branding identity message towards the center of the campus or towards the highway for external marketing.

Participated Stage- Design Development

Description – Renovation project for client’s Tel Aviv office space. Space planning and materiality has targeted to provide creative environment for users. The project embraced flexibility on space for amenity floor. For typical work floor, proper mix of collaborative space and individual working zone was key driver.

Description – Tenant improvement of existing lobby & cafeteria space for 2 buildings in campus. Main goal was to refresh the space with stronger brand identity and upgrade cafeteria to be multi purpose game space.

Description – Renovation project for training center. Purpose to stimulate pride of company to their new trained employees. I borrowed the idea of city grid and urban planning to define the space and wayfinding. The design fulfills acoustical requirement by using acoustical wood panels as an indicator of each training room. Overall finishes to be clean, simple, and timeless.

Year – 2016

Description – Prototype for a wearable shelter. As a reaction to the horror of violence against women during post-disasters, we seek out methods to address all three top risks by envisioning a solution through a design of an outer wear we named PONCHOuse, essentially transforms a piece of garment into a private space that shelters its users from unexpected and vulnerable situations during the post-disaster periods.

Description - Major renovation for Academic and Science building & expansion for Student Complex for Art and Athletics. Developed continuity of the space through linear baffle ceiling with exposed structure, the corridor wall being used to be a part of the branding of the school. Wood wall panel and graphic wall applied on the space to give vertical rhythm of the space.

Description - Renovation focused on floor & wall tile patterns to define public space and classroom space, by giving a differentiation of the ratio of school colors used on the pattern.

Description - Upgrade project for patient room, corridor, and waiting area for Women’s Service. Design challenge on patient room was to generate headwall & footwall piece with medical equipment while providing comfort to patients

Project Area - 31,500 sqf area of 1st floor (Lobby & Admit area) + 48,000 sqf of 5th floor (OR & PACU floor)

Description - Renovation project for building entrance lobby & surgical floor. The most focused issue on the first floor was creating wayfinding with a welcoming environment. For wayfinding, developed a floor pattern with tiles, wood element on the wall & ceiling, and super graphic on egress.

Year - 2011, graduate thesis at Rhode Island School of Design

Description- Project is for a fashion flagship store with headquarters located in Providence, RI. In the center of the space is a showroom made out of an inflatable structure. The showroom is moveable and relocatable to other cities for promotional purpose. For this project, I proposed that the showroom go to New York when New York Fashion week happened. During vacancy, the empty space is used for the exhibition of the local artists.

The existing building used be three separated masses, bricks and the size of windows used in the facade were not unified. To be well concentrated on the new inflatable structure from the outside view, the building facade needs to be simplified and treated as the same design language. Since the layout of the space inside followed the guideline from the windows, I developed the facade to stress the grid line of existing windows.

With deep interest of human body and its expression, I have been practicing figure drawings with different mediums (pen, watercolor, conte, and embroidery). Recently been developing it into larger wall installation. 

I also built several transformable garment prototypes to explore a relationship between human body and the space we are creating.
